Want Some Wood?
Another solid victory for John Kerry in tonight's debate. Bush improved markedly from last time, but he could really only have moved in one direction after his abyssmal performance last week. Everyone attached to the Bush campaign is clearly jubilant that he didn't blow it again. Imagine what would have happened if he did screw it up a second time: we saw that messing up the first debate cost him about 5% in the polls and Kerry actually took the national lead this week. If Bush were to crumble again, the election would have been sealed. Tonight Bush salvaged what little chance remains to win the election.
However, tonight Bush produced some classic Bushisms. First, he acknowledged that his policies are unpopular both at home and abroad. However, he asserted that his decisions should not be and will not be based on their popularity. Geez people, what do you think America is, a democracy? Majority does NOT rule in this administration! Bush puts the "mock" in democracy! Second, Bush spoke of criticism appearing on the "internets." Does anyone know how I can log onto that other internet? I wonder if all internets have blogs? Third, Kerry (correctly) pointed out that Bush himself counts as a "small business" under the current tax code and actually received an $87 tax refund due to his stake in a logging business. Bush scrunched up his face and replied, "I have a logging business? That's news to me... What do I say to that. *pause* Want some wood?" Fourth, Bush was given the customary 2 minutes to respond to a question and after about 40 seconds, he looked pleadingly at moderator Charlie Gibson and implored, "Is my time up yet?" Ladies and gentleman, it is high time to restore INTELLIGENCE to the leadership of our nation. President Bush is a laughable joke. Get in touch with reality. Open your eyes. Put aside the filter, the blinders, and the party line. Just look at what has happened to our country!!! Make an intelligent choice on November 2.
Oh yeah, it's the start of Fall Break today. Props to everyone who stayed in (on a Friday night, no less) to watch the debate.
