No Longer Homeless
I officially own a first-floor condominium in the Briar Green complex on North Stadium Drive. Yesterday's settlement sealed the deal! We are now clear to complete some electric work, to install a new microwave and stove, and to begin furnishing the place. It's very comforting to know where I will be staying for at least the next four years. I'll inform people of housewarming party plans when they materialize. With the new METRO free passes, you'll just have to come visit!
Another day, another dose of shit from the Bush administration. First, the Republicans in Congress changes a party rule in order to protect Tom Delay's status as the majority leader. Previously, the rule stated that any member holding an official title would lose his position if indicted for any kind of felony. Now that Delay may be indicted for his illegal role in Texas state redistricting, his pals decided that the old rule needed to be amended so he could skirt punishment. Now, a 12-member committee (of Republicans) will meet to determine whether any title-holder should lose his job following indictment. Why even bother to have rules, people? Just deal with situations however the fuck you want next time, because that's what winds up happening anyway. Secondly, CIA director Porter Goss told staffers "We support the administration and its policies in our work as agency employees. We do not identify with, support, or champion opposition to the administration or its policies." Clearly, this statement forces CIA employees to back Bush. However, Goss angrily denies that he is trying to influence the political persuasions of his employees. BULLSHIT. The words speak for themselves.
North Korea has removed several prominent public portraits of Kim Jong Il and state news media have stopped referring to him as "dear leader of our party and our people," instead calling him only by his official 3 titles. I wonder what his happening up there? The last thing the world needs is a pretext for Bush to pre-emptively wage war in another bluffing country.
Sorry for the disjointed post. I'm busy tonight and wanted to bang out a quick yet content-heavy blurb. My brother is coming to town tomorrow, so expect sporadic postings over the weekend.
