Broken Watch, Atomic Bombs, and Double Headers
What's been happening to me lately? What could possibly keep me from posting journals? With two exams now in my rearview, I think it would be opportune to give a hoot about my journal again. At least for tonight.
Is anyone scared about the Syria/Iran situation? Let me clarify, for any conservatives out there who feel scared because they irrationally perceive a threat from these Middle Eastern desert kingdoms: does anyone feel scared by the rhetoric pouring out of the USA regarding a nuclear Iran and an as-yet-unproven Syrian-led assassination on the ex-prime minister of Lebanon? Obviously, the Bush administration learned nothing from the Iraqi occupation debacle and feels completely justified in pointing fingers at Iran and Syria. Meanwhile, the only proven nuclear rogue nation (North Korea) continues to fester and disseminate perhaps the greatest threats of any foreign enemy. Today they celebrated Kim Jong Il's 63rd birthday. The official news agency put out a pretty cool editorial which related North Korean/American relations to an old Korean fable. In the fable, a powerful and threatening tiger is defeated by a lowly porcupine, who jams spines into the tiger's nose. I look forward to the day when the New York Times publishes an editorial relating nations to animals!
My watch fell out of my pocket yesterday and landed hard on the tile floor. While it's still ticking, the face bears a half-inch crack in the glass. I guess my watch now classifies as "bad ass," "retro," or any other term whose purpose is to make a shitty object seem cool.
If you read this before 9:00 PM, please come to HUMA 328 for the ACLU meeting. Our speaker will confirm our worst fears, namely that the United States is becoming a theocracy. In accordance with Bush administration foreign policy outlawing theocracies, we will wage war on the Bible Belt starting tomorrow. So come to the meeting tonight! And celebrate the last night of freedom by checking out a post-meeting double header softball game (10PM-12AM) on the lighted field by the gym. I hear this really cool guy will be warming the bench/playing a little bit of first base. Wink, wink.
